3. LEE Je-Hak, the Head of Yangcheon-gu Promises 100 Social Enterprises and Ten Thousand Work Places.

"Promotion, donation and vehicles are the primary problems to be solved." (YOO Yeong-Gyun, Representative of “Goodwill Business”).

"There will be funding for promotions and bazaars to support social enterprises. Provision of vehicles will also be considered by a relevant department.” (LEE Je- Hak, Head of Yangcheon-gu)

On the 4th of May, serious talks were held at Sinjeong 4 dong, Yangcheon-gu, Yangcheon branch of Goodwill Business. Goodwill Business is a social enterprise that helps the physically challenged and socially neglected people, through selling donated products at a low price. It is also the second social enterprise that Yangcheon-gu has certified.

LEE Je-Hak, the Head of Yang-chun-gu District (second from left) visited the Yangcheon branch of Goodwill Business and talked with YOO Yeong-Gyun, the representative of the company, about management and the difficulties of running a social enterprise.

On this day, Mr. Lee asked detailed questions about everything, including questions about quality and price of products, their main customers, the donation process, and the vision of the company.

Mr. Lee also gave helpful advice such as, "…If possible, show brand names and prices, wherever products such as women’s clothing are displayed, so that customers can see them clearly”.

Mr. Lee's dedication to social enterprises is exceptional. As he promised in his electoral commitment, he is planning to make ten thousand more jobs through 100 social enterprises.

Out of 25 autonomous districts in Seoul, he was the first to set up the Employment Policy Department and successfully built a Training Center for young social entrepreneurs. Starting from May, he has also started Social Enterprise Business Orientations and other lectures by social entrepreneurs.

Mr. Lee is also trying hard to solve the gap between the wealthy regions of Mokdong apartments and the working class people outside of Mokdong. He is making strategies that are industrially and regionally relevant.
