The study tour of social enterprises in India and Bangladesh by the university students network group ‘Nexters’ as a part of ‘The World-Wide Hopeful Economic Study Tour Project’ operated by the WT foundation in 2007 resulted in a book named of “The Beautiful Lie” (Published by Book Nomad). This book, published in December of 2008, is an alternative travel book outlining our experiences with social enterprises in India and Bangladesh. We visited social enterprises and met social entrepreneurs who combine the pursuit of profit with social values like eliminating poverty, protecting the environment, and gender equality. With this book, we hope to re-illuminate the hidden social enterprises in India and Bangladesh and show how they’re viewed through eyes of youths.
