The Social Venture Incubating Center Network Party

 

The Social Venture Incubating Center, run by the Work Together Foundation and supported by the Life Insurance Association, held a social venture incubating center networking event by name of ‘Ready Action’ on the 30th and 31st  of May.

The purpose of this networking event was to set a target and business project for the entrepreneurial growth of each team by June, as well as to discuss, and to share future plans & ways to support the ‘Action donut’ which is a supporting team formed by college students and young men along with a related professional coach.  

The ‘Ready Action’ event began with a complimentary dinner and had an open-aired feeling to it. The social enterprise Nanum-sahwe(sharing society) provided catering for this event. The official network party started with cheerful acoustic guitar played by the social venture ‘Mumon Compagnie’. Park Mi-hyun, representative of Touch4good who attended the India convention GSVC 2010 introduced various foreign social ventures that she had met at the GSVC, after the dinner and celebratory concert.

 

During the following event, each team presented troubleshooting, missions, and problem-solving projects for the next two months.


  
 

 


 

The first presentation was Ahn Chang-young, director of Gongsin. He said that Gongsin was more or less lack of identity or strength in 2009. He set up the target of Gongsin to grow as an enterprise that earns KRW two billion in annual sales by providing study contents through the project of a renewed website and reinforced the ability of product contents this year.

The 4th presenter was Kim Bum-jin, a representative of CIZION who developed, and is running, a total management solution for online comments called ‘LIVERE’. He showed the actual LIVERE installed site and clarified that a lot of web agencies and politicians are interested in this, according to the regional elections in June. =>LIVERE (http://www.livere.co.kr)

 



 

 

The last presenter was Park Mi-hyun, a representative for Touch4Good. She simply introduced visions of T4G enterprise as an ‘Environment Friendly Solution Enterprise over the Recycle Enterprise’. T4G is selling the eco bag at the Lotte Cinema located in Myung-dong, since they received a design license for ‘The tears of Amazon’ which was released earlier this year. Focus on reinforcing inner abilities and the B2B network to lead ‘T4G’ to be recognized as ‘Environmentally Friendly’ through this program, developments such as an education work shop and recycled products made by used hanging banners and subway advertisement boards were made. Jang Dae-chul, a KAIST professor who was invited as a professional coach, actively showed feedback during dinner with CIZION. Moreover, Haja center and Sopoong parties, who support Social Venture Incubating actively, 5 showed a variety of feedbacks through a Q&A after the presentation.

On the 2nd day of event, which was on the 31st, three refugee musicians from the Congo who immigrated to Korea in order to avoid civil war, and who were invited by Eco Femme, played a celebration concert.

 


 


After a cheerful Jembe(Congo Instrument) and some jamming on the guitars, Park Jin-sook, who’s a representative of Eco Femme, and who attended GSVC as representative of Korea, explained how she felt about the character of the GSVC convention. They weren’t selected as the world convention advanced team, however, they won 1st place for ‘The Elevator Speech Program’ which is a one minute presentation contest to demonstrate the skill of Korean social ventures in front of the world’s social venture representatives and directors.

The first presentation for the move into team missions was by Park Jung, representative of The Chokbit People (http://blog.naver.com/sociv?redirect=Log&logNo=97288583). The Chokbit People was formed by four housewives; aimed at a ‘Workers Collective’ type of social venture, which is a combination of both work and household work at the same time. They clarified the vision of enterprise by combining baby care experience with environmentally friendly natural dyeing skills to start producing small baby toys that will lead to creating the organic eco village.

 


 


 

 

The 2nd presenter was Ga Myun-jung, representative of Woody (http://allowoody.blogspot.com). Communication Woody, which claims to be a ‘Cause-Related Marketing Company,’ clarified a rough situation which arose from lack of awareness and distrust from the outside about professionalism. But they also clarified countermeasures for problems to strengthen sales capacity through secure outside consult specialist and the Work Together Foundation.

The 3rd presenter was Jeon Jei-yeon, representative of MEG. He defined what was MEG’s position, and discussed that will no longer be able to work because of a weakened inward core capability which is the result of the joint representative suddenly quitting. He said that he will leave the data as an example of a ‘Failed enterprise’ for future social venture challengers.


 

 
 

The last presenter was Park Jin-sook, representative of Eco Femme (http://ecofemme.or.kr/20). Eco Femme decided to fulfill their management mission of becoming an enterprise after concern arose between being a non-profit NGO and a social venture, which is profit enterprise. They will focus on opening the 1st Eco Femme store in front of Hongik University.

The professional coach for each team and the Action donut teams actively participated in the Network party. Jeong Sang-hoon (Team leader from of Dongwoo Fine-Chem) as Communication Woody’s coach, Choi Hyuk-jin (Director of Wonjoo Healthcoop) as Chokbit people’s coach, Kim Kwang-seok (Chief of TANITA) as Eco Femme’s coach, joined the event until the end, and Sejong University SIFE team members and Myungji University SIFE team members who are participating in Action Donut presented the activity target and refreshed their readiness.

The continuous supports will be decided according to the final evaluation in June. We would appreciate your participation and we hope you look forward to the results.
