The Hong Kong Legislative Council Visits the Foundation on July 23rd
The eight members of the National Assembly of Welfare of the Hong Kong Legislative Council visited the foundation on the 23rd of July to research Korean social enterprise and welfare policies for poverty.
For two days (the 23rd and 24th), the councilors visited the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and representative social enterprises of Korea such as the Haja Center.
The current state and the overall projects of Korean social enterprise and the foundation’s activities to support social enterprises were described during the visit.
After the hearing the foundation’s presentation, the HK Councilors asked questions, mainly focusing on the current state and future of Korean social enterprises. Some of the main issues discussed were: the amount of government budget for social enterprises; the plan for a formation of networks between social enterprise supporting groups; the number of employees and working conditions of social enterprises; and the social impact of the social enterprises.
It was a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of networking and cooperation between Asian countries, and also marked the beginning of future cooperative relationships between Hong Kong and Korea.
