Seoul Youth Creativity Summit 2009
The Essence of Creativity is not that we have some special talents. Rather, it is just the ability to act by being willing to take a risk. - John Cleese.
Creativity meets lives at risk
The 2009 Seoul Youth Creativity Summit was held at the Art Center of Namsan and the Haja Center from the 1st to the 5th of June. The theme of this event was creativity meeting lives at risk. The Seoul metropolitan government hosted this festival and the Haja Center and the Seoul Youth Factory for Alternative Culture organized it. With their goal to create a variety of jobs, the Work Together Foundation has been paying attention to youth problems by continuously sponsoring the disadvantaged. The foundation had also actively participated in this event to consider alternative approaches together beyond the sponsor’s arena.
The 2009 Seoul Youth Creativity Summit, which placed the word ‘creativity’ as its main theme, was the first of its kind in Korea and was designed to provide youths with new experiences. It was an overwhelming event for people trying to use creativity to get through their problems and to improve their employment possibilities. Attending the event were Mr. David Istance, a international expert on youth creativity; Mr. Desmond Hui, a creativity index expert in a variety of Asian countries as well as the UN; and Juha-Pekka Saarinen, a principal of the Omnia Vocational College, the biggest vocational school in Finland; along with 80 well-known individuals and many young people.
The 2009 Seoul Youth Creativity Summit had five days to help build creativity.
