Pre-“2009 Social Venture Competition” Briefings 


The Work Together Foundation hosted a briefing session for the ‘2009 Social Venture Competition’ (SVC) on August 3rd at Haja Center and August 5th at Work together Foundation.  The briefings were to explain social ventures and social enterprise and to introduce processes, and standards of judging amongst other things. 
 

With more than 100 participants, the rate of participation by social entrepreneurs was comparatively much higher.  Constituents from various backgrounds and professions represented those participating in the briefing.  Amongst those in attendance were individuals from social enterprises, company employees, students, senior and etc.

 

 


 


 
This promotion has created an increased awareness for social venture and the social enterprise. The participants have participate in SVC through channels like a daily newspaper ‘Metro’, Korea Employment Service Centers, Social Entrepreneurs’ Academies, etc.

Each team made questions regarding how to create concrete action plans for SVC, further they prepared questions about how to prepare for the business plan applications. The constituents of this briefing were so fully involved that although the Q&A period had finished, a number of teams stayed behind in order to ask more questions in order to ensure full comprehension of the materials discussed.

  2009 Social Venture Competition (SVC) is hosted by the Ministry of Labor, and is jointly hosted by the 6 consignment organizations (Work Together Foundation, Social Enterprise Support Network, Hoseo Industrial-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Taegu Institute of social studies, Research institute of Social Enterprise, Business center of Chonnam National University).  Small and Medium-sized Business Administrations such as KBS, Donga Newspaper and SK supported the SVC.

In the case that a prize winner for the Starting Enterprise section does not actually start up a business, the amount of the prize will be adjusted to the Idea section prize.

 

- Intense mentoring will be available for the final selection teams

- An extra KRW 30,000,000 is available for business start-up

- Additional funds by Small and Medium-sized Business Administrations and SK may be provided for outstanding ideas

-Opportunity to enter GSVC as a Korean National Team
